Pepsi has self-researched a set of special ERP system to improve operation control and efficiency.
To share this management system work, firstly, Pepsi employed the populated DDN special line way at earlier stage, but the expensive long-term operation cost and the expansion of business points forced the Company to seek for an updated network interconnection way.
1) Continue to use the existing network interaction and satisfy the operation management of ERP system to improve system efficiency and lower network operation cost.
2) Build up an interconnection communication encryption network to ensure transmission safety and conduct a level-to-level management for authorized network access users.
3) Develop mobile access and remote interconnection business to meet mobile office work need and overseas application access demand through the interconnection basis.
Pepsi has entered VPN application field at earlier stage, taken lead in employing cheap ADSL access at information system center and installed ICEFLOW VPN secure gateway with high performance, security and stability to effectively interconnect all points of Pepsi in China. Drawing a lesson from this, each manufacturing company can construct its own Virtual Private Network (VPN) by using the existing network resource in the form of IPSEC/PPTP/SSL and replace the special line with VPN to connect the headquarters with its sales center and manufacturing factory to lower professional rental cost under the condition of connection to a public network.
After the popularization of SSL VPN, a new mobile access interconnection way has been brought into network applications by Pepsi to replace original PPTP interconnection. The security level for mobile interconnection has been promoted to the same level with IPSec VPN. ICEFLOW exclusively-owned TSSL technology gives full play to the easy operation management of client terminal and acquires a better man-machine interconnection way through the SSL technology and the tunnel application.
Due to the high security of SSL, it has not only lowered the security risk of mobile access, but also can transfer the system application under C/S structure to the application mode of B/S structure. Moreover, it has met the need by an overseas authorized user to access local data center through WEB.
The above-mentioned measures have been implemented by stages and as planned, accompanied by the upgrade service experience plan fully customized by ICEFLOW for Pepsi, which has finally realized a continuous 4-year implementation and stable operation since 2005.
1) The employment of the IPSec/SSL VPN double-effect application system has not only reduced more human maintenance and management cost, but also promoted network security of entire interconnection;
2) The employment of the access mode combining TSSL and WEB SSL gives convenience to the mobile access at each place (the client terminal mode). Moreover, it has also solved the variation issue between overseas and dealer interconnections;
3) It further improves enterprise risk prevention and intensifies secure access and transmission guarantee of information through the improvement of communication security level; it replaces unnecessary special line application consumption to lower the cost.
ICEFLOW TSSL technology (tunnel ssl vpn) is to realize a tunnel type operation based on SSL. The reliance of WEB SSL to a proxy server is avoided for tunnel type SSL is an application based on the network layer so that the access speed and efficiency has been largely promoted. And it is even more obvious under multi-user access condition.
